AVICII eligible for Oscars nomination in 2019
Featuring contributions from fellow artists such as Tiesto, David Guetta and Nile Rodgers, AVICII: True Stories is a cautionary tale that explores the taxing nature and intensity of fame from the point of view of artists, as much as it is a film for Avicii’s die-hard fans.
Levan Tsikurishvili commented, “I wanted to do a brutally honest film about Tim as a person and not only about Avicii. Everybody knows Avicii but very few people know Tim. I think this documentary really shows Tim’s struggle and strength of character. Being a worldwide superstar artist is not as easy as it looks on Instagram”. Regarding the Oscar nomination, Tsikurishvili commented, “I feel the responsibility to be the messenger, and honour my friend and his legacy”. Avicii: True Stories was distributed globally to theatres in 2017 by production and distribution company Piece of Magic Entertainment.
Following 2017’s theatrical release, Avicii: True Stories has gained a huge amount of traction and attracted worldwide plaudits. Now the cinema documentary is returning to selected cinemas in December 2018, ahead of eligibility for an Oscar nomination in 2019, and after the unexpected death of 28-year-old Tim Bergling, the superstar DJ known the world over as Avicii.
The cinema documentary directed by Levan Tsikurishvili traces the unvarnished truth behind the success and controversial retirement of Grammy-nominated producer, songwriter and artist Avicii (A.K.A. Tim Bergling), one of EDM’s most talented music artists who tragically lost his life earlier in 2018.
