This diverse collection of prestigious classics, stunning restorations and exciting new break-out IP, boasts some of the most highly anticipated releases in the anime industry this year. With multi-territory rights secured across Europe, POM Anime’s 2025 offering will deliver premium anime content with strong international appeal.
First up is the cinematic, season 2 return of DAN DA DAN: Evil Eye. After the overwhelming success of DAN DA DAN: First Encounter in cinemas in 2024, POM Anime will continue its partnership with ADN for the release of the sequel. This highly acclaimed series will hit cinemas on June 7 & 8, across 12 territories, with Germany and Austria to follow on June 10. Audiences will be treated to the first three episodes of Season 2, plus exclusive 10-minute bonus content that will only be available in theatres.
Building on the momentum of the first season, which earned praise as one of 2024’s best anime, season two’s theatrical release roll-out will include Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Spain, Italy, Poland, Netherlands, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia, and Kosovo.
With AKIRA, POM Anime will be partnering with Kodansha to license a stunning, 4k restoration of the timeless anime classic, across a major footprint of 20 countries. AKIRA needs no introduction—this 1988 cyberpunk masterpiece has left an indelible mark on both anime and global pop culture and is considered one of the most iconic anime films of all time.
Building on the success of their 4K re-release of AKIRA’s in 2023 across 12 countries, POM has now secured theatrical rights in 8 new territories, expanding into the Nordics and Baltics.
On July 16 2025, POM Anime will present the restored 4K feature across Poland, Romania, Croatia, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Greece, Cyprus, Hungary, Albania, Bulgaria, Serbia, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Iceland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. This will be the first ever theatrical release in some of these markets. This release date also holds particular significance for fans; known as Akira Day, it commemorates the day in 1988 when events in the story are said to have destroyed Tokyo and sparked World War III.
The heartbreaking, equally masterful GRAVE OF THE FIREFLIES from Studio Ghibli, will be seen this summer in a 15-territory theatrical release across Benelux (Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg), Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia, Slovenia, Kosovo, Macedonia. The timeless story of two siblings trying to survive during World War II remains a poignant testament to the human cost of war and a reminder of the enduring power of animation to convey deep emotional truths.
Concluding the impressive slate, POM Anime will be bringing the long-awaited LUPIN THE IIIRD THE MOVIE : The Immortal Bloodline to fans in Europe. Considered a cornerstone of Japanese animation, POM Anime will be releasing the first new 2D Lupin feature in nearly 30 years in Q4 2025. Directed by Takeshi Koike (known for Lupin the IIIrd and Redline), the feature length film will continue the legacy of the world’s most charming and clever thief, from cult IP beloved by fans for its action, humour, and charisma.
POM Anime will release the film in multiple territories, including Benelux (Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg), Poland, Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia, Kosovo, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and follows POM’s successful 2024 partnership with TMS Entertainment and the release of Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro across Europe.
