Piece of Magic Entertainment (POM) today announced a major multi-territory theatrical release across Europe for Iron Lung, the highly anticipated horror/sci-fi film and first feature-length theatrical project from global digital creator Markiplier.
Responding to exceptionally strong global fan demand, POM will deliver a theatrical experience for Markiplier’s European fans, releasing Iron Lung simultaneously with the US and previously announced international markets (UK, Australia, Canada) on January 30 in Germany, Austria, Poland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Czechia, Slovakia, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.
This approach reflects POM’s established expertise in delivering large-scale, fan-driven theatrical events across multiple territories. As a key international partner, POM will enable Iron Lung to roll out theatrically across Europe, bringing this phenomenon to an even wider fan base and taking the film global - building on the company’s recent success with Taylor Swift | The Official Release Party of a Showgirl, a global fan-led cinematic event that demonstrated the growing power of community-driven releases on the big screen.
Iron Lung has already become an impressive, industry-recognised phenomenon - starting in the United States, where Markiplier is self-distributing, working directly with independent theaters across the country. Its theatrical presales and fan demand have broken conventional expectations for an independent, self-distributed release. Industry reports indicate that the film is slated to open on more than 2,500 screens, showcasing the power of direct fan engagement and grassroots theatrical bookings. Early box office projections also suggest strong performance potential, with the already recorded $5M in presales surpassing industry benchmarks.
Iron Lung was produced, written, and directed by Markiplier who also stars. Based on the breakout indie horror game of the same name by David Szymanski, it is set to captivate audiences with its intense, claustrophobic narrative. The story unfolds in a stark, post-apocalyptic future following “The Quiet Rapture,” an event that causes stars and habitable planets to vanish. A desperate attempt to explore an ocean of blood on a desolate moon unfolds when a convicted individual is sealed inside a decaying submarine nicknamed the Iron Lung — a descent into dread that becomes as psychological as it is physical.
This landmark theatrical release is the first feature film by Markiplier, one of YouTube’s most influential creators with over 38 million subscribers and more than 23 billion total views across his channel as of late 2025. Renowned for his charismatic and immersive content — from horror game playthroughs to original narrative projects — Markiplier now expands his creative footprint into feature filmmaking, serving not only as the film’s lead actor but also as writer, director, editor, producer and principal visionary.
